Recent Projects:
- since Jul 2000: Software developer for Tarsec on a project concerning internet security.
- Dec 1997 - Jun 2000: Software developer for UBS implementing internet banking applications.
- Dec 96 - Nov 97: Software developer for SENA, implementing a CAD application for civil engineers (FESPA).
- Apr 96 - Nov 97: PhD student at NTUA
focusing on distributed shared memory and automatic parallelization algorithms.
- Jun 95 - Mar 96 system engineer at Silicon
Iraphics Switzerland in Zurich. Customer support in system & network
administration, and programming. Hotline management.
- Apr 95 - Jun 95, NTUA/DSCLab:
- Parallel multiplication of matrices on orchid platform.
- Parsing of simple loop programs and generation of data dependence vectors.
The goal of this project, is to parallelise simple for-loop programs. My
part, consists in parsing such simple programs to find the dependencies
in the assignments in the innermost loop and to write them out in matrix
form.
- Jan 95 - Mar 95, EPFL/Software
Engineering Laboratory: Porting the Ada
Software Components Library to different Ada compilers, like SunAda
and Apex. Also, writing the syntax of Ada95, and building a text
formatter for Ada95 programs using Gramact. This text formatter serves
as a good tester of the Ada Components Library.
- Aug 94 - Dec 94, EPFL/Operating
Systems Laboratory Parallelization of applications for genetics research
on a cluster of Dec-Alpha workstations. I parallelized the so called "blast"
applications, using PVM, and set up a network and mail server, which treats
blast requests, using many machines simultaneaously. I created a home
page for this Blast server and put all related information there.
To get an idea about the project:
To look at the manual for the resulting programs:
- Nov 93 - Aug 94, EPFL/Peripheral
Systems Laboratory: Digital Typography, gray scale fonts. I mainly
worked on porting the software for grey scale fonts from the Mac/MPW environment
to Unix/C and Mac/ThinkC environments. I wrote a little text formatter
in C++ to make the use of these fonts a little bit easier and to prepare
texts for physiological tests. In my internal report "Visual appearance
of greyscal fonts",
I compare grey scale fonts with black and white fonts.
- June 93 - Sep 93, University
of California, Irvine, Center for the Neuriobiology of Learning and
Memory: Handwriting recognition with biological based neural networks.
In this institute, knowledge about the brain acquired by biological experiments
is modeled by biologists and computer scientists, and implemented as neural
networks. These neural networks really work, and I started doing hand writing
recognition with them. More details about this work, in my internal report
"Some
efforts towards handwriting recognition with neural networks".

- May 91 - Dec 92, Greek Army, Technical Corps: System- and database-
administration, database development with Oracle.
